Long Term Strategy for LB343

We are now through the Fall 2017 Legislative Hearing on LR228, the massage therapy review of LB343, but more work lies ahead.

We cannot predict what will happen with LB343, four yes votes are needed to move it out of committee. Our goal is to have massage therapy struck out of the bill before it moves out of committee. There were two entities testifying to lesson educational requirements (Platte Institute and ACLU.) This means we have our work cut out for us. If we as an organization work together over the long term and everything goes well, we can be finished with this before January – if not, we move into the next session as the bill hits the full Senate. Obviously, our goal is to be done with it.

What we need you to do

  1. Spread the word to other massage therapists.

  2. Schedule 10-30 minutes of time at least once a week to call your senator and at least one HHS committee member. We recommend you build this into your schedule and stick to it.

  3. Send at least one email a week to your senator and the full HHS committee.

We want to keep a unified and precise front from our membership so we will highlight different talking points weekly, based on the talking points sent out earlier.

What we need you to ask of others

1. Ask clients, friends, family, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals to call and write. Above is a hand out to share with them. This is a two page document, print two sided or staple info together.
